Hello!
Today I went to HWA in the evening for their ZEST party with the 3 "Bs" - Boey Yang, Ben, Bao Rong. I
demanded requested that they do some reflection post-party, since I'm supposed to "ensure students keep learning logs frequently" as written in my job responsibilities haha. So since I was there too, I shall start first, fair right? NO COPYING OR PARAPHRASING HOR!!
So the guys said I'm so talkative.. and how come I can so easily chat up the people there, both handicapped and not. Truth to be told, this was actually the first time I've actually spoken to the clients at HWA... I've never really dealt with people in wheelchairs before... except sometimes in school there's this guy in a wheelchair and I'll help him move out of the classroom or into the study room, that's all.
So anyway, I was probably as apprehensive, or more, than you guys in approaching them! [Did you know that people with high "I" personality (DISC profiling I'm sure you've done before) are also not good in taking rejection?] Yeah, but you see, since I'm your mentor, I could not show it and had to force myself to adjust to the situation, hoping you will then feel a bit more at ease and follow suit! haha. I guess it didn't work much huh. But it's ok, still more sessions to go right. Doesn't mean that the project is "3rd party" then you shy away.. if even I try when I'm also afraid and technically the project is you guys', then you all should also lah, ok?
Hmm so what else.. oh I met some new people of course, both clients and other volunteers... don't you feel that the people there are all like.. different kind of character from general public and similar in character to each other? In terms of you know their mannerism and attitudes... all like no airs and friendly. Quite nice huh.
So I met Divya... who's 19 and her bday is coming soon on 24th Jan! She likes flowers. She speaks very slowly too. She said she is currently working at SPD tagging things and likes working better than studying haha. And Jason, 23, who is hearing impaired... we communicated thru sms. So interesting. Got the sign language card and I'll try to learn but I really have psycho-motor-problems!! Hai.
Eh Boey Yang, what prize did you win? share leh!! How was the programme after I left? And I really admire the guy who could play well even after his accident. They really have like the drive to get on with life and stop moping around. Makes people who whine about breakups and studies or pimples (ha, like me) sound so blah in comparison.
Hope you got some good pictures. maybe you could get a recording of the guy's piano playing and use it in your final presentation ;)
Alright who's got my brolly please return it on fri! 3Bs please post soon hor.
